MOOC

MOOC or  Massive Online Open Courses is a distance course, accessible by internet to which anyone can point and problems have no limit of participants.

MOOC courses are based on the philosophy of knowledge democratization so that as many people as possible can expand their training. The term MOOC arises in 2008 from the hand of Dave Cormier when the number of students enrolled in his Connectivism and Connective Knowledge (CCK08) course reached 2,300 students. there are three types of MOOCs:

The xMOOCs are articulated around the traditional methods of distance education where the teacher has the role of thematic expert and the learning is individual.

The cMOOCs are designed under the premise of ‘connectivism’ (Downes and Siemens) where learning is based on the diversity of opinions and the promotion of connections would favor learning.

The xMOOCs are taught on the same platform, so the student profile is much more specific. As a general rule, they are more associated with the university environment.
